Where to Eat During Joe's Valley Fest
There are lots of places to stock up on snacks or sit down for a good meal while you’re in Joe’s Valley. Plus, food trucks will be rolling up to the Emery County Rec Center during the weekend’s festivities, and you’ll also find one-of-a-kind food events at our local artisan clinics.
If you’re unsure where to eat to fuel up your climbing and Fest adventures, read on for some great Joe’s Valley food options.
Stock Up at Local Grocery Stores
Food Ranch in Orangeville is the conveniencestore closest to the climbing areas. In addition to well-stocked shelves of food and drinks, they sell climbing gear, including chalk, and they rent out crash pads if you aren’t bringing your own. There’s a lounge upstairs with free WiFi and plenty of tables if you need to work.
Among the Joe’s Valley food options you don’t want to miss are Food Ranch’s delicious donuts. They come in unique flavors like butterfinger and cotton candy, and they are as good as you’ve heard. If you’re in need of a quick lunch, check out the options at the hot bar, including the Lizard Lunch bargain enjoyed by the locals (chicken tenders and fries at a discount price).
Stewart’s Marketplace in Castle Dale is a fully stocked grocery store located just blocks from many of the Fest activities. In addition to any food, beer, and seltzer needs you may have for your stay, you can also top off the propane or get yourself a Joe’s Valley T shirt or sweatshirt. .
Check Out the Local Restaurants
Support the local economy and get a great meal by visiting some of the eateries in the area. R Pizza Place in Castle Dale is known for their giant pizzas (pizzas come in six sizes, from 8 inches to 28 inches), along with calzones, salads, pasta bowls and chicken wings.
Also in Castle Dale, Fatty’s Pizza & Grill specializes in burgers, sandwiches, pizza and milkshakes. Rick’s Cuisine, on Main Street in Castle Dale, is a newer spot serving Italian, Mexican, Peruvian, and American food.
If you head out to Huntington, check out Lamy’s Mexican Grill on Main Street for quesadillas, tortas, tacos, burritos, and salads. Also on Main Street in Huntington is the Ponderosa Grill, where you can order burgers, sandwiches, seafood, steak, salads, pizza, and more.
If you’re in need of a caffeine or hydration fix, check out Cup of Joes in their new location in Orangeville, right on the way to the boulders. Get yourself a hot coffee drink or a cool smoothie, as well as some sweet Cup of Joes merchandise or rent a crash pad.
Get Food at the Fest
Joe’s Valley food options also include fun food events happening throughout the weekend at the fest. Check the fest schedule for more details on all your opportunities to eat with fellow boulderers and locals.
Starting things off, local food vendors will be at the Orangeville Olympics on Thursday at Orangeville City Park. On Friday, attend the local artisan clinics to make a giant pizza with local favorite R Pizza,learn how to make the famous Food Ranch donuts, or go to Ungerman Meats for their beef jerky clinic. Yes, you’ll be tasting your masterpieces as well as making them. Then head to Emery County Recreation Center for food trucks between 3pm and 8pm. Stick around until 8:30pm to end the night with s’mores around a bonfire.
On Saturday, the food trucks will be at the rec center between 2pm and 8pm, and you’ll have another chance to make a giant pizza over at R Pizza. At the JVF block party on Saturday afternoon, we’re serving free shaved ice.
Close out your weekend with coffee and donuts at Food Ranch on Sunday morning before you head home. Better yet, hang out afterwards at Food Ranch to join us for a service day. Spend an hour helping us pick up trash around town. Or, if you have more time, join us for some light trail work. We’d appreciate any time you can spare to give back to this community.
